Dartmouth College
Dorothy Byrne pledged $20 million to Dartmouth College to establish the Jack Byrne Scholars Program in Math and Society, which will include support for undergraduates, a graduate fellowship, and three new mathematics professorships.
Ms. Byrne is the widow of John (Jack) Byrne Jr., a former chief executive of the Geico insurance company. He died in 2013.
The Johns Hopkins University
Jeffrey and Shari Aronson have pledged $10 millionto establish the Aronson Center for International Studies and promote closer ties between the university’s graduate and undergraduate international-studies programs. Of the total, $4 million will pay for two new professorships.
