Nonprofit News From Elsewhere Online

The Education Department will partner with a coalition of conservative groups to create a civics education program as part of the observance of the country’s 250th anniversary next year. The effort will be led by the America First Policy Institute, founded by veterans of the first Trump administration, and will include Turning Point USA, Hillsdale College, the Heritage Foundation, Moms for Liberty, and the Faith and Freedom Coalition, among others. Although the Education Department said the American 250 Civics Education Coalition would promote “a shared understanding of America’s founding principles in schools across the nation,” a department spokeswoman said it would not provide material for classrooms, but rather community-based programming.
