Amid federal grant cancellations and attacks on scientific exploration from the Trump administration, researchers in the United States describe the current climate as the worst in their careers. Among hundreds of researchers surveyed, older scientists are considering leaving the country, while younger ones are reconsidering their career choices. They told Stat magazine that the talent pipeline will run dry as funding instability discourages senior researchers from recruiting trainees, ultimately threatening Americans’ health and prosperity.
