Nonprofit News From Elsewhere Online

The country’s largest liberal foundations have launched a quiet effort to raise at least $250 million to support groups pushing back against the Trump administration’s agenda, according to sources for the New York Times. The money could go to “groups or individuals that file lawsuits against the government, provide security and safety for activists, or underwrite news media organizations or nonprofits seen as essential to the functions of democracy.” At the center of the effort is Deepak Bhargava, a long-time activist and philanthropy leader who is working closely with John Palfrey, the president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, sources said. (New York Times)
