The project is backed by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s Schmidt Sciences, AI safety body the Future of Life Institute, and Jaan Tallinn, a founding engineer of Skype. (Guardian)

A former employee called the new numbers a drastic drop-off after a continuing recovery from pandemic shutdowns, and a current staffer said the audience is voicing its displeasure with “the hostile takeover of their performing arts center.” A Kennedy Center spokesperson said the annual renewal campaign is just getting started and that hard-copy brochures, which also drive sales, “have not yet hit homes.” (Washington Post)
