Children’s Hospital Foundation
DeAnn Aston Marshall, senior vice president and chief development and marketing officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, will become president of the fundraising arm of the Children’s National Health System in Washington.
Philanthropy Northwest
Kiran Ahuja was named chief executive of the regional philanthropy network. She is a former chief of staff at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and before that headed the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Williams Institute
Jocelyn Samuels, former director of the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was appointed executive director at Williams, a think tank at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law focused on issues concerning LGBT people. She will succeed the institute’s founding executive director, Brad Sears, who has led it for 16 years.

Barbara Chow, education-program director at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, was appointed director of education at the Heising-Simons Foundation.
Harold Steward will become managing director at the Theater Offensive, an arts group in Boston. He is currently manager of the South Dallas Cultural Center, a part of the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs.
Departures:
Toby Cosgrove, chief executive of the Cleveland Clinic, will step down by the end of this year after 13 years at the helm.
Jim DeMint, a former Republican senator from South Carolina, was ousted as president of the Heritage Foundation due to “significant and worsening management issues,” according to a statement by Thomas Saunders III, the conservative group’s board chair. Ed Feulner, the nonprofit’s co-founder, will lead it until a successor is named.

Michael Mael, who has served as executive director of the Washington National Opera since 2011, will step down on July 1.
