Lindsay Firestone Gruber, chief program officer at the Taproot Foundation, has been promoted to president and CEO. She succeeds the interim CEO Sarah Mankowski, who will return to her role as board co-chair.

Noël Suzanne Harmon has been tapped as president and executive director. Previously she was senior vice president for strategic partnerships at Say Yes to Education.
Brian Castrucci, acting CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation since March 1, has been installed permanently in the role. Previously he worked at the public-health foundation as chief program and strategy officer for six years.
The foundation has also hired two new vice presidents.
Mark Miller was named vice president for communications. Previously he was associate vice president of communications for the Children’s Hospital Foundation at Children’s National Medical Center.
Katie Sellers, senior vice president for science and strategy at the March of Dimes, is now the foundation’s vice president for impact.
Brendan Connell Jr. has been named chief operating officer at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Previously he was deputy chief operating officer at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
Christopher Plamp, interim chief executive officer of Hire Heroes USA, was appointed permanently to the position. Before serving as interim CEO, he was chief operating officer at the veteran-services organization since he retired as an U.S. Air Force colonel in 2014.
David Snyder, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council, has become executive director of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel.
The Houston grant maker has announced two personnel changes to its parks program.
Guy Hagstette, director of parks and civic projects, has been promoted to vice president for parks and civic projects.
Sarah Newbery, project director for Memorial Park at Uptown Houston, has joined the foundation as director of parks.
Richard and Nancy Kinder donated $70 million through their foundation earlier this year to the Memorial Park Conservancy, in Houston.
Other Notable Appointments
Elizabeth Coté will join the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality as chief health officer. Coté is a family-medicine physician in Boston and previously clinical director for the Micmac Service Unit at the Indian Health Services, providing health care for a Native American community in northern Maine.
Anabel Évora, a philanthropy adviser at Remote Area Medical, has joined Child Aid as chief advancement and business development officer.
Alex Johnson has joined the California Wellness Foundation as a program director, overseeing grants related to violence prevention. He was previously managing director of Californians for Safety and Justice, in Los Angeles.
Sandeep Juneja has joined the TB Alliance as senior vice president for market access. He was previously senior business development director at Medicines Patent Pool, in Geneva.
Dawn Rigney has been named vice president for institutional advancement at the State University of New York College of Optometry and executive director of the Optometric Center of New York, the college’s affiliated foundation. Most recently, Rigney was assistant vice president for alumni and parent relations at Pace University.
Brent Swinton, managing director of development at Advancement Project and the Children’s Defense Fund, has been named vice president for institutional advancement at Bowie State University.
Ed Harsh, president and CEO of New Music USA, plans to step down in September to write a book. He will remain a senior staff member at the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music.
Lyndel King, director of the Weisman Art Museum for 40 years, intends to retire in June 2020.
