National Philanthropic Trust Will Install New Leader in July

Holly Welch Stubbing, currently president and CEO of E4E Relief, will be the next president and CEO of the National Philanthropic Trust, which has granted $28.5 billion since 1996.

Holly Welch Stubbing will be the next president and CEO of the organization that manages $28.5 billion in donor-advised funds. Currently she is president and CEO of E4E Relief.

She will begin her new role on July 1 following the retirement of Eileen Heisman, who has guided the charity since 1998.

Center for First-Generation Student Success

Maurice Jones will be its first CEO, as the organization spins off from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

National Philanthropic Trust

Holly Welch Stubbing will be the next president and CEO of the organization, which has $21.6 million in charitable assets, according to its 2022 Form 990 (the most recent available), and whose grant making hasexceeded $28.5 billion since 1996. Currently, she is president and CEO of E4E Relief.

She will begin her new role on July 1 following the retirement of Eileen Heisman, who has guided the charity since 1998.

Center for First-Generation Student Success

Maurice Jones will be its first CEO, as the organization spins off from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

He founded MJConnects, a professional- and business-services firm, and previously served as president and CEO of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and CEO of the economic-development nonprofit OneTen.

Huntsman Mental Health Foundation

Becky Pickle, retired owner of two Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Salt Lake City area, has been appointed CEO of the foundation that was created in 2021 following a $150 million donation from the billionaire Karen Huntsman and her family.

Pickle is also the founder of the Becky Pickle Family Foundation, which makes grants to organizations in Utah to alleviate homelessness, reduce the incidence of suicide, and award college scholarships for students in need.

Oceana

James Simon will be promoted from president and general counsel to CEO, effective July 1. He has worked at the ocean-conservation group since 2003.

Simon follows Andrew Sharpless, who is retiring after more than 20 years at the helm.

More New CEOs

Emily Blomberg, chief operating officer at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, has been named president of Regions Hospital and the Regions Hospital Foundation.

Ashley Brundage, executive director of housing stability and senior vice president of community impact at the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, will be the next CEO of the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity.

Tiara Green has been appointed president of Accessia Health, a national nonprofit that aids people living with rare or chronic health conditions. She has been its interim leader since June and was previously its senior vice president of programs and policy.

Jaime Pumarejo, the former mayor of Barranquilla, Colombia, has joined the Clean Air Fund as executive director of Breathe Cities.

Molly Vandervest has been promoted from vice president to president of the Bellin Health Foundation. She succeeds Nan Bush, who is retiring after nearly 20 years at the fundraising arm of Bellin Health Systems.

Karen Hughes White has been tapped as president and CEO of the Texas Women’s Foundation. Since 2014, she has been CEO of Tri Delta, a national sorority that is headquartered in Dallas. White succeeds Hattie Hill, a board member who has led the $33 million foundation on an interim basis since January.

Maine Community Foundation

The $661 million community fund has hired six new employees.

Caitlyn Barker will serve as a community partner to Penobscot County and statewide organizations. She was previously community-engagement coordinator at Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association.

Liz DeLois, a fundraising consultant, is now director of philanthropy.

Nathan Finberg, software engineer at Athenahealth, has been hired as philanthropy associate.

Tracey Hair, executive director of H.O.M.E. in Orland, will be the community partner to oversee Hancock and Washington Counties.

Amy Minton is the new director of prospect research. Most recently she was director of development research at Bowdoin College.

Lane Sturtevant, an organizer with Democracy Maine, will be the community partner responsible for Knox and Waldo Counties.

Other Notable Appointments

Harry Cooper, head of modern and contemporary art at the National Gallery of Art, will become the museum’s inaugural Benny Mellon Curator of Modern Art.

Blair Doroshwalther, a documentary director whose films deal with social issues, is now program director for the Urban Resource Institute’s Economic Empowerment Program. In addition, Nate Tolbert has been promoted to clinical director of the Transformative Justice Collective. Most recently he was clinical director of its Manhattan Abusive Partner Intervention Program.

Gina Evans has been promoted from program officer to senior program officer at the McElhattan Foundation. In addition, Stephanie Sweat was promoted from data analyst to director of grants management at the $114 million foundation.

Shelley Goode has joined the AARP Foundation as senior vice president and chief development officer. Since 2022, she has been chief development officer at the Girl Scouts of the USA.

Josaphat Mshighati will now serve as country director of Americares Tanzania. Most recently he was regional technical adviser for Pathfinder International’s East and Southern Africa climate resilience program.

Christina Riso, interim vice president for university advancement at Gwynedd Mercy University since January, will remain in the post permanently. She was hired in 2022 as assistant vice president for university advancement.

Jackie Sullivan has been hired as senior vice president at Lindauer, an executive-search firm that serves nonprofit organizations. Most recently she was chief client-services officer at Graham-Pelton, a fundraising consulting firm.

Sylvia Wong will be the first chief development officer of TheDream.US, a nonprofit that helps immigrant youths earn college degrees. Most recently she was senior director of development at America’s Promise Alliance.
