Summary: Three out of four gifts and pledges of $10 million or more went to colleges in 2017, up from two out of three donations and commitments the previous year. Next most popular were gifts for arts, culture, and the environment, although these three categories attracted just 10 percent altogether.
The value of donations and pledges of $10 million or more to colleges in 2017 was 25 percent higher than in 2016, the report said. The institutions raised $7.7 billion last year from such gifts.
