Plan International is a humanitarian charity that advances children’s rights and equality for girls around the world. An important part of its mission is promoting access to quality education for all children. Here, the organization has worked with local partners in Somalia to help students stay in school despite devastating drought.

Advancing the mission takes money, and Plan International’s U.S. branch is a fundraising powerhouse. The group landed the No. 16 spot on the Chronicle’s list of America’s Favorite Charities, the nonprofits that raise the most cash support from individuals, foundations, and companies.
